Masonry Sand from Creech’s Lawn & Landscape is a high-quality, fine-grained sand specifically engineered for masonry and mortar applications. The consistent gray-black coloration provides a neutral base that works seamlessly with various mortars and concrete mixes. This finely screened material features smaller, more uniform particles than standard construction sand.
Our Masonry Sand is thoroughly washed and precisely graded to ensure optimal binding performance and workability. The fine, uniform texture allows for tighter joints in brickwork and stonework while providing excellent strength in concrete and mortar applications. Its consistent particle size distribution creates predictable mixing ratios and superior finished results.

Coverage and Installation
Masonry Sand typically covers approximately 90-110 square feet per ton at a 1-inch depth. For mortar mixing, combine with portland cement at a ratio of 2.5-3 parts sand to 1 part cement for standard applications. When using as joint fill for pavers, sweep dry material into joints and compact with a plate compactor, then mist with water to settle.
For best results when mixing mortar, add small amounts of water gradually until achieving the desired consistency. When using as a setting bed, install at a uniform 1-inch depth and screed to create a level surface before placing pavers or stone. Allow freshly mixed mortar to slake (rest) for 5-10 minutes before final mixing and application.
